I'm not renewing my subscription to Intelinvest.ru, so portfolio tracking on that platform stops here. Overall it's a solid product with a lot of features (most of which I personally don't use), and the issue isn't really the ~2k RUB / year price tag — it's the ads creeping in, the lack of flexibility I need, and even simple things like monthly/yearly returns being calculated in odd ways. It's also great to be able to build exactly what I want and skip the rest.
Which leads me to the next news: I now have my own site at iv-invest.com, and from now on the longer write-ups, deep dives and analytics will be published there. Telegram stays of course, but here I'll mostly post links to fresh articles on the site with short comments.
The site will be fully free, just like Telegram. The decision has nothing to do with current discussions in Russia about restricting messengers — I started planning the site more than a year ago. The driver was, first, a bunch of small things on Intelinvest that bugged me (the new site naturally includes its own portfolio tracker), and second — Telegram is a poor fit for long article-style posts. I get that most people today struggle to focus on anything for more than a minute, but I want to keep writing, and not all my posts fit Telegram's standard 3000-character limit. On top of that, properly inserting graphics like charts and images, or any extra formatting, is basically impossible inside Telegram, and using something like Telegraph as a side service didn't work well for me either.
Honestly, formatting longer Telegram posts always frustrated me — squeezing into character limits, trying to insert any kind of graphic, picking which part of the text to cut. It always ate a lot of time. So welcome to iv-invest.com — a site still in beta with a few rough edges (for now portfolio tracking only includes the main TQQQ and QLD positions), but it'll grow. I'm planning to invest serious time into it.
